Koh Samui diving
Discovery Dive Center
 Our
daily role at Discovery is to provide you with FUN, SAFE underwater
adventures, to ensure rewarding and memorable diving experiences
during your stay. The Dive Centre is located in North Chaweng overlooking
the exclusive Amari Palm Reef Resort. We are able to offer a new
concept in diving for the Gulf of Thailand.
Discovery Dive Centre is owned and managed by Richie Lopez previously
of Chang Diving School with Lawrence Fay and George Clancy.
Koh Samui and its neighbouring Islands, Koh Tao and Koh Phangan
lay in the beautiful, tropical waters of the Gulf of Thailand. They
are surrounded by some of the finest coral reefs and underwater
ecosystems that our oceans have to offer.
At Discovery Dive Centre we offer a variety of dives from local
diving and fast speedboat trips to farther dive sites.
Sail Rock (Hin Bai):
 Situated
40 km north of Koh Samui, it lays midway between Koh Phangan and
Koh Tao, this pinnacle is one of the best dive sites in the Gulf
of Thailand. The rock pinnacle emerges from sand at 40m, so the
visibility can reach the same. The rock displays an abundance of
marine life ranging from soft filter feeding corals to the gentle
pelagic giants of our oceans, the Whale sharks and Manta Rays.
This site is a must for experienced divers, but the shallower depths
can also be explored by newly qualified divers under supervision.
At Discovery we offer only speedboat trips to Sail Rock, which enable
us to dive the site undisturbed in small groups. Trips are fully
inclusive with 2 dives, meals and soft drinks provided.
In keeping with our philosophy we plan to offer the opportunity
to dive newly discovered reefs during the year 2000. These dive
sites have been researched by us and are available only with Discovery
Dive Centre! Sorry, no details can be divulged at this time!!
Koh Tao or Turtle Island (by Speed Boat):
 60
km north of Koh Samui. This island is a divers paradise with over
20 dive sites ranging from submerged pinnacles to beautiful coral
encrusted boulder canyons. On a slow boat it will take 4 - 5 hours
each way.
At Discovery we offer dive trips to Koh Tao via 400 hp speedboat
which takes a little over 1 hour and gives us free range to choose
from the wide selection of sites for the best conditions and provides
the best service for small dive groups. These boat trips can also
be be arranged for private charter.
Ang Thong National Marine Park:
Lays to the west up to the north west of Samui about 35 Km. The
Dive sites in the Park are the most northern point. In season the
sites Koh Wao and Hin Nippon offer excellent diving with an abundance
of marine life and swim throughs. This trip also offers some fantastic
sight seeing to and from the islands of the Marine Park. These dive
trips are available from Discovery as a half-day diving or full
day exploration by speedboat.
Dive Courses:
- We provide a relaxed, personal service to our customers.
- Small group instruction ( maximum 1:4 Instructor/Diver ratio)
with smaller groups on request.
- Our dive courses are flexible to suit your vacation requirements.
- We offer certification courses sanctioned by PADI, NAUI &
NASDS.
- Specialty courses including underwater photography, video and
diver propulsion vehicles!
- Our school SCUBA equipment is replaced annually to ensure students
learn with safe, well maintained, state-of-the-art equipment
